Men's Tennis Defeats CNU 7-2

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team won their 13th straight match on Saturday afternoon defeating CNU 7-2 at home. 

Juniors Jhonny Acosta and Juan Vallejo set the tone with a dominate win at # 1 doubles 8-4. Seninor Roberto Puig and freshman John Falke then locked in at the end of their #2 doubles match to win 8-7 and "give us the momentum as we transitioned to singles," commented Coach Brice.

 Sophomore Tshepo Mosarwa then played outstanding at the #5 position with a "set the tone" 6-0 6-0 win. Acosta followed with a high-quality, convincing 6-1, 6-1 win against a historically tough opponent.

Falke then clinched the match 6-1, 6-2 by "wielding a big serve and willingness to remain patient and build the point to his favor," said Brice.

Puig once again prevailed against a yearly CNU foe 6-1, 6-4. Vallejo then rounded out the singles victories with a convincing third set match tie break win, 7-6, 1-6, 10-5.

 "We have an important week coming up with a contest between a challenging Div. II opponent in Chowan on Tuesday followed by an Averett squad on Wednesday that has had some significant wins throughout this season," commented head coach Albie Brice. 

Wesleyan improves to 13-2 on the year while CNU falls to 4-3.
