#10 Men Tennis Shut Out Pfeiffer 9-0

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The 10th ranked NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win over Pfeiffer University in their conference opener on Saturday afternoon from the Slick Family Tennis Center.

The win began in doubles with a 8-0 domination by the #2 doubles team of senior Ingmar Remmerswaal and sophomore Andy Fanzaga grabbed an 8-0 win. Junior Augusto Roca and sophomore Joaquin Micheloni then teamed up at the third line to win 8-1 before the top doubles team of juniors Thato Holmes and Tshepo Mosarwa cruised 8-3.

Freshman Luca Knese then put the Bishops up 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #2 singles spot while Fanzaga also won 6-1, 6-0 at the #6 spot. Freshman Diego Segovia then easily won 6-3, 6-0 at the #3 spot before Mosarwa won 6-3, 6-2 at the fourth line.

Finally, Roca edged his foe 6-2, 6-4 at the top line while senior Valentin Aniceto won a three-set thriller 6-3, 6-7, 10-7 for the shutout victory.

The men improve to 12-1 on the year and 1-0 in the conference while Pfeiffer falls to 6-4 and 0-2. The men's match at D-1 Davidson was postponed earlier in the day due to high winds.

The Bishops will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to William Peace and Campbell for matches.
