#13 Men's Tennis Cruises Past Rival Methodist 8-1

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College 13th ranked men's tennis team rolled to a 8-1 conference win over rival Methodist University on the road Wednesday afternoon.

The Bishops got out to a 3-0 lead in the doubles winning 8-4, 8-1, and 8-2 across the top three lines. The 3rd ranked doubles team of seniors Jhonny Acosta and JP Vallejo defeated their foes at the top line 8-4 while the fellow senior doubles team of Max Robinson and Roberto Puig won 8-1 at the two line. The final doubles team of Thato Holmes and John Falke then eased past their foes 8-2 at the third line.

In singles, Wesleyan received two easy wins from junior Augusto Roca at the 5 line 6-0, 6-0 and freshman Diego Segovia 6-0, 6-1 at the six line to clinch the win for the Bishops. Puig then dominated his foe 6-1, 6-1 at the three spot while freshman Luca Knese won 6-3, 6-2 at the fourth spot. Finally, Vallejo won a thrilling three-setter 6-2, 6-7, 12-10 for the 8th point of the match for the Bishops.

Junior Tshepo Mosarwa and senior Ignacio Alia also dominated in their exhibition singles matches winning 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1. Mosarwa and Segovia also teamed up for exhibition doubles to win 8-1.

Wesleyan improves to 15-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference with the win while Methodist falls to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the East Division.

The Bishops will return to action on the road on Friday when they head north to Virginia to battle Mary Baldwin and Southern Virginia at 3:00 pm.
