#12 Men's Tennis Shuts Out Virginia Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The #12 NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team rolled to their sixth straight win on Saturday as they dominated Virginia Wesleyan 9-0 from Rocky Mount.

The men improve to 19-3 on the season while VWU falls to 7-6.

The Bishops were led in doubles by the third ranked doubles team of seniors Jhonny Acosta and JP Vallejo as they won 8-4 while fellow seniors Max Robinson and Roberto Puig also defeated their foes at the two line 8-5. Finally, Wesleyan completed their doubles sweep with an 8-3 third line win by sophomore John Falke and junior Thato Holmes.

Acosta, the top ranked Atlantic South Region player, then won 6-2, 6-2 at the top spot in singles while Vallejo also won 6-2, 6-2 at the second spot. Junior Augusto Roca then picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at the third spot while freshman Luca Knese won 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth spot to keep up his stellar season.

Finally, Freshman Diego Segovia dominated his foe 6-0, 6-1 at the 5th line before junior Tshepo Mosarwa capped it off with a 6-1, 6-0 win as well.

The Bishops will next remain home to host rival Averett on Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
