Tennis Programs Shut Out Greensboro on Senior Day

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's and women's tennis teams hosted their final conference match of the season on Wednesday afternoon on Senior Day and proceeded to each shut out Greensboro College for the wins.

The 12th ranked men won 9-0 over the Pride while the Lady Bishops won 6-0 over Greeensboro.

In the men's match, the top doubles team of senior Jhonny Acosta and freshman Diego Segovia rooled to an 8-0 win at the top line while the other two doubles teams each won by forfeits. Seniors Max Robinson and Roberto Puig at the two line and JP Vallejo and John Falke at the 3 line.

In singles, senior Ignacio Alia won 6-0, 6-0 at the top singles spot while fellow senior Valentin Aniceto won 6-1, 6-0 at the second spot. Senior Ingmar Remmerswaal, Thomas Trotta, junior Matan Amitay, and freshman Bhodan Zhylchuk then all won by forfeit at the 3,4,5, and 6 spots respectively.

 

In the women's match, senior Chandler Brice and sophomore Elisa Mariotti won 8-0 at the top doubles spot while freshman Kristal Dule and junior Miguelina Paiva won by forfeit at the second doubles spot. In singles, Brice won 7-5, 6-3 at the top spot while Paiva won 6-1, 6-0 at the second spot. Dule and Mariotti each won by forfeit as well.

Women's Results

The men finish their conference season 7-0 in the league and 24-4 overall while the women finish the year 2-7 in conference and 2-12 overall. 

The men will next battle #20 Mary Washington University next Tuesday on the road at 2:00 pm to finish out their regular season.
