Men Finish 3rd in NCWC Classic

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College cross country teams hosted their season-opening meet on Saturday morning with the 2nd annual NCWC XC Classic from their on-campus course. Numerous runners broker their own personal records in the meet as the women fought to a 2nd place finish overall while the men finished third.

USA South rival Methodist won the men's meet by sweeping 4 of the top 5 placers with a top time of 26:11 in the 8K race. Francis Marion was 2nd.

Wesleyan was led by Philly Barungi's 8th place finish in a time of 29:52 while Maleik Small was 2nd on the team and 11th overall finishing in 31:21. Senior Keyonte Williams then finished right behind in 12th in 31:54 while freshman Ayden Harper was 13th in 31:55. Senior Terenthen Parker also placed 16th in 34:37 while freshman Noel Meza finished 20th in 39:25.

The men will next compete in the Monarch Invitational in Fayetteville on Saturday.
