Men XC Compete at ECU 8K

GREENVILLEN.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's cross country team competed at the ECU Pirates 8K Invitational on Friday afternoon and finished 10th overall in the mostly D-1 race, but placed 5th out of 8 D-2 and D-3 teams in the field.

Leading the way for Wesleyan was junior Philly Barungi finishing 46th out of 100 racers overall in 28:48 while teammate, junior Maleik Small came in right behind and placed 57th in 29:38. He was followed by senior Keyonte Williams in 61st place with a time of 30:09 while freshman Ayden Harper was 67th in 31:13. Junior Terenthen Parker then wrapped up the scoring placing 76th in 32:10.

Freshman Noel Meza then placed 87th in 36:54 while four track and field runners finished up the race for the Bishops. Senior Luis Ross came in 90th in a time of 38:00 flat while junior Joseph Turner was 94th in 45:04 followed by sophomore Noah Strange in 47:03 and freshman Abu Dolley in 48:18. 

The UNCG men won the meet followed by ECU, American, Coastal Carolina, Methodist and Barton. Virginia St. was the 7th followed by Louisburg, UNCW, NCWC, Peace, Regent, and Elizabeth City St.

The men next return to action on Saturday, Oct. 30 at home when they host the USA South Championships at 1PM.
