Bishop Men Finish 7th at XC Championships

ROCKY MOUNT, NC - The 2021 USA South Men's Cross Country Championship took place on Saturday, October 30 on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Southern Virginia, in its first year of USA South membership, captured the championship. The Knights bested second-place Berea by just one point and third-place Covenant by 38 points. Individually, Southern Virginia's Dylan May won the meet as he finished the 8,000-meter course first in a time of 25:01.

Leading the Bishops and their 7th place finish out of 13 teams was junior Philly Barungi in 44th place with a time of 29:01. He was closely followed by senior Maleik Small in 45th place and just a second behind in 29:02.

Standout freshman Ayden Harper then placed 56th with a time of 29:44 for his personal best while senior Keyonte Williams was 58th in 29:54. Following those two were junior Terenthen Parker in 73rd place with a time of 31:16 while freshman Noel Meza then came in 91st in 33:02 for his personal best.

The top-seven runners at the meet were named First Team All-Conference, finishers 8-14 were awarded Second Team All-Conference accolades, finishers 15-21 grabbed Third Team All-Conference accolades and finishers 22-24 were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.
