Rocky Mount, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan's softball team celebrated its 2013 Senior Day in style on Sunday afternoon, sweeping Greensboro College by 8-2 and 7-5 scores to secure the 6th seed in next weekend's USA South Conference Tournament. Head Coach John Brackett honored his lone senior, Amanda Warley, prior to the first game, and she delivered with a pair of hits and three RBIs on the day.

The opener saw the Bishops plate all eight of their runs in the second inning. After Wesleyan's Carla Matthews scored the game's first run on a wild pitch, Jessica Hodges and Carly Creef would later draw bases-loaded walks for a 3-0 advantage.

One out later, sophomore Kendra Hoes blasted a grand slam homerun to left field for a 7-0 Bishop lead. The homer was Hoes' eighth of the season, which ties the program's single-season record set in 2008 by All-American Ashlee Bass. Wesleyan wasn't done, however, as Warley drove home pinch runner Jackie White to cap the inning.

The Pride managed a pair of unearned runs in the third to provide the eventual final score. Sophomore hurler Kelsi Bailey (6-7) went the distance, scattering just four hits and striking out four, while Matthews finished with two hits.

In the second game, Warley highlighed a 3-run first inning for the Bishops with a two-out, two-run single to right center. NCWC made it 4-0 in the second on a RBI-single by Paige Pritchett before the Pride would cut the lead in half with single runs in the third and fourth.

Up 4-2, Wesleyan countered with three more in fourth inning thanks to a Brittni Jones RBI-double that was followed by a costly fielding error by the Pride. The GC miscue allowed two unearned runs to cross and gave NCWC a 7-2 advantage heading into the late innings.

After plating a run in the sixth, the Pride made things interesting in the seventh by tallying three consecutive hits to open the inning. With Wesleyan up 7-4, Bishop starter Leanna Fann got a groundout before another Pride single made it 7-5. Brackett then brought in Bailey, who secured the save by getting out of a bases-loaded jam with a pair of groundouts.

Fann (7-8) picked up the win, giving up five runs (four earned) and striking out six. Offensively, Hoes finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

With a 10-12 USA South mark, the 6th-seeded Bishops will take on 3rd-seeded Christopher Newport next Friday at 11:00am. The double-elimination tourney features the league's top eight teams and will be held at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex Friday, April 12 through Sunday, April 14.
