Softball Drops DH at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Softball team dropped both ends of their conference doubleheader on Saturday at Pfeiffer falling 4-2 and 4-0 on the road.

Pfeiffer would lead 1-0 after 4 innings before scoring three runs on a three-run homer off senior pitcher Beth Braswell in the 5th inning to go up 4-0.

Braswell then trimmed their deficit in half in the 6th with her two-run double that scored SS Meredith Mize and OF Logan Winstead, who had singled and reached via error respectively. 

But Wesleyan could get no closer in dropping game one. Braswell threw all 6 innings allowing 4 runs on 3  hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.

Pfeiffer then shut out the Lady Bishops in game two 4-0 scoring one in the 2nd, two in the 5th and one in the 6th off senior pitcher Grace Preston. Preston finished throwing 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk while Braswell threw the final two innings in the circle allowing the other run on 2 hits with a strikeout.

Wesleyan was held to just one single by Winstead while OF Nichole Mooney walked twice as the Bishops fell to 9-9 on the season and 5-3 in the East. Pfeiffer is now 9-8 and 4-1.

The Bishops return to action on Wednesday at home to host Bluefield St. at 3 PM.
