The USA South Athletic Conference's softball coaches have released their 2022 preseason polls. Each divisional preseason poll only includes votes from coaches within that particular division-only. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting. A new addition to the sport of softball within the Conference will be Southern Virginia who enters the League for its first year of membership.
Pfeiffer was atop the rankings in the East Division poll but fell to the Bishops in last year's East Division playoff series. The Bishops went on to battle West Champ Piedmont in the conferecne finals but fell in a very close three-game series. Wesleyan finished last year 20-17 and brings in 10 newcomers this season along with nine returning veterans including senior infielders Meredith Mize, Chelsea Nixon, and Brianna Myers.
While, in the West, Piedmont was ranked first and attempts to capture a regular season divisional title and tournament championship for the second consecutive season.
The 2022 USA South Softball Tournament will once again be conducted exclusively on campus sites. The top-five seeded teams from each division will advance to tournament play.
