ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College softball team fell 5-0 in 5 innings in their home opener vs. Mary Washington on a rainy Thursday afternoon. Game two would end up getting postponed due to rain.

UMW used two run-scoring singles in the 3rd inning to take a 3-0 lead while their pitcher, Caitlyn Burch had a perfect game going through three. However, Wesleyan's leadoff center fielder Logan Winstead would draw a walk in the 4th to end the perfect game before a single from senior SS Meredith Mize ended the no hitter.

The game would be called in the middle of the 6th inning due to rain with UMW leading 5-0 as they added two runs off freshman reliever Avery Jordan in the 4th inning. Freshman starter Emily Humphrey tossed 3 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits with a walk and 2 strikeouts to get the loss.

Sophomore catcher MK Raynor also stole a base after reaching via error.

The Bishops will now turn their attention to the Grand Slam Triangle Classic in Raleigh over the weekend playing two games each on Saturday and Sunday.
