Myrtle BEACH, SC - The NC Wesleyan College softball team split their games down in North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday shutting out Anna Maria College (Mass.) 6-0 before falling to Wilkes University (Pa.) 10-0 in the second game.

In the first game Tuesday morning, Bishop freshman starter Sofia Salcido (1-0) held Anna Maria (0-5) scoreless over all 7 innings allowing just 7 hits and not walking or striking out a single batter.

The game remained scoreless until the 6th when freshman DH Molly Alejandrino drilled her third home run of the season to make it 2-0. Wesleyan would then load the bases on 2 walks and an error setting the stage for catcher MK Raynor to step up and knock an RBI single. An Alexis Whitfield two-run single then made it 5-0 before an RBI groundout from senior SS Meredith Mize completed the scoring.

Raynor, Whitfield, and freshman 2B Skyler Walker led the team with multi-hit efforts while 1B Abby Todd, Raynor and Whitfield also stole bases in the win.

The second game of the day saw Wilkes (3-1) then dominate Wesleyan 10-0 behind a quality pitching performance from their starter as she allowed just 4 hits and struck out five.

Wesleyan freshman starter Avery Jordan threw 4 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits and 2 strikeouts while freshman reliever Emily Osteguin struck out three but allowed 5 runs in relief.

Senior CF Logan Winstead led the team in game two with two hits and a stolen base while Abby Todd also doubled in the loss.

Wesleyan goes to 6-4 on the season after winning three of four games in Myrtle and will next return to action on Monday to host Elizabeth City St. in a 2 PM DH.
