GREENSBORO, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College softball team split their conference doubleheader on the road at Greensboro College on Tuesday afternoon falling 3-0 in game one but winning 3-2 in game two.

 GAME 1: GC 3, NCWC 0

In the first game, two walks and a hit by pitch by freshman starter Emily Osteguin (0-3) in the first inning led to one run for the Pride. They would then add two more insurance runs in the 6th off freshman reliever Laila Holloway.

The Ladies then loaded the bases in the 7th on 2 walks and a Chelsea Nixon single but left them loaded as they fell 3-0. Nixon, 1B Abby Todd, and senior DH Brianna Myers led Wesleyan with singles in the loss. Osteguin threw 4 innings allowing just the one run on 2 hits but walked five while Holloway allowed two runs on one hit and a walk in her two innings of work.

GAME 2: NCWC 3, GC 2

In the second game of the day, Wesleyan would strike first with two runs in the 4th inning as 2B Alexis Whitfield drove in pinch-runner Osteguin, who had come in for Todd after she led off with a double. After Whitfield's single, catcher MK Raynor's RBI single then brought home 3B Molly Alejandrino, who had singled, for the second run. Whitfield and Raynor also stole bases in the inning.

After five shutout innings from freshman starter Emily Humphrey, the Pride finally got to her in the 6th with a two-run homer to tie the game at 2. However, the Bishops would not be deterred in the seventh as a two-out single from LF Skyler Walker turned into a stolen base and a run as Todd drove her in for the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run. Humphrey then shut them down 1-2-3 in the 7th for the win improving her to 9-5 on the year. She threw all 7 innings allowing just the two runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out three.

Todd led the offense with three hits in game two while Walker also recorded two base-knocks including a double.

The Lady Bishops now remain at .500 on the season at 15-15 overall and 5-7 in the East Division while the Pride go to 19-11 overall and 7-5 in the division.

Wesleyan will now travel to Southern Virginia for a DH on Saturday at 1:00.
