Wesleyan Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight

Danville, Va. - The women's tennis team of N.C. Wesleyan cruised to a pair of USA South road victories over the weekend, picking up a 7-2 win at Mary Baldwin on Friday and a 9-0 sweep of Averett on Saturday. The Battling Bishops have now won four straight matches to even their league record at 4-4.

Versus Mary Baldwin, seniors Samia Kacher and Tija Riley teamed for an 8-2 win at #1 doubles, while the duo of Bristy Parker and Dori Brooks earned an 8-1 victory at #2. The Squirrels picked up a default win at #3 doubles, as well as #6 singles.  Wesleyan, however, dominated the other five singles positions in straights, led by the top-seeded Kacher who did not surrender a game (6-0, 6-0).

Against Averett, the Battling Bishops again dominated and raced out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles action.  It was then Parker who was untouched on Saturday, turning in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #3 singles to spark a Wesleyan sweep.

Wesleyan continues USA South play on Tuesday at Meredith College. The match is slated for a 3:00pm start in Raleigh.
