Sewanee, Tenn. - The Battling Bishop women's tennis team wrapped up the fall season this past weekend at the ITA Fall Regional. Junior Natalia Lopez and sophomore Florencia Sorrentino paced Wesleyan with solid performances in their respective draws.

Seeded fifth among the 64-person field, Lopez faired well in the Main Draw by tallying a pair of wins to reach the Sweet 16. Her two victories came in straight set wins over players from Oglethorpe and host Sewanee, while her lone loss came to eventual champion Taylor Cosme of Emory.

Sorrentino made an impressive run in the Atlantic Draw, knocking off players from Birmingham Southern, Oglethorpe and Methodist en route to a championship appearance. She eventually dropped a tough 9-8 decision to OU's Isabella Wisener, who had advanced earlier by downing NCWC freshman Stephany Barbera in the quarterfinals. Barbera had earned her spot in the Elite 8 with victories over opponents from Rhodes and Millsaps.

In Main Draw doubles, Lopez teamed with Berber for a 9-8 victory over Wilkins/Abbott of Rhodes.

Wesleyan's women will now prepare for dual play in the spring.
