NCWC Women Sweep MBC, Ferrum for Third Straight Victory

Staunton, Va. / Ferrum, Va. - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's tennis team wrapped up a perfect week in USA South play over the weekend, sweeping Mary Baldwin and Ferrum by 9-0 scores on the road. The Bishops have now won three straight to even their overall record at 3-3, which includes a 3-1 record in conference action.

Versus Baldwin on Saturday, Wesleyan dropped just two games in doubles play and went on to record six straight-set wins in singles. The duos of Valeria Berber/Stephany Barbera and Florencia Sorrentino/Ana Diaz teamed for 8-0 wins before anchoring victories at #1 through #4 singles, respectively. Senior Katie Beeman teamed with Leigh Hales for an 8-2 win at #3 doubles, while Andrea Tobar and Hales rounded out NCWC's sweep with points at #5 and #6 singles.

At Ferrum on Sunday, the Bishops earned three wins by forfeit and gave up just two games during singles and doubles play combined.

Wesleyan returns to action on Tuesday with a home match-up with Bluefield at 1:00pm.
