Rocky Mount, N.C. - The women's tennis team of Methodist University was too much for N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon, handing the defending regular season champions a 7-2 defeat at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center.

The Monarchs (15-2, 10-0 USA South) took a 3-0 advantage into singles action after sweeping doubles play. MU's Isabella Graf/Sam Munze narrowly escaped the Bishop duo of Valeria Berber/Stephany Barbera with an 8-6 victory at the top seed, while the Monarchs posted 8-3 wins at #2 and #3.

In singles play, Berber and Barbera cruised to straight-set wins over Graf and Munze at the top two positions, but it would be the only points of the match for NCWC. Methodist picked up wins in straights at #3, #4, and #6, eventually ending the match with a Davi Barbour three-set win over Andrea Tobar (0-6, 6-3, 6-2) at the #5 seed.

Wesleyan completes league play with a 10-2 overall record and will now await seeding and opponents for the USA South Conference Tournament slated for April 15-17 in Rocky Mount.
