Rocky Mount, N.C. - In USA South women's tennis action, N.C. Wesleyan moved to a perfect 3-0 with a pair of wins over Ferrum and Meredith on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Junior Florencia Sorrentino went 2-0 at #1 singles and picked up a key point at top doubles versus Meredith.

Versus Ferrum on Monday, Wesleyan cruised to an 8-1 victory. The duos of Nicole Halabi/Manuela Cano and Andrea Tobar/Leigh Hales were winners at #2 and #3 doubles, with the Panthers' lone point coming by a 8-6 score at the top seed. The Bishops went on to secure six straight-set wins in singles play to secure the victory.

At Meredith on Tuesday, Wesleyan was able to take two of three doubles matches with victories at #1 and #3. Sorrentino and Stephany Barbera won a close 9-8 decision at #1, taking the tiebreak by a 7-2 tally. The Bishops narrowly missed a doubles sweep as the Angel tandem of Gillian Emerson/Emily Wilkinson won a 7-4 tiebreak of their own over Halabi/Cano at #2.

Singles play saw Emerson and Wilkinson pick up points for Meredith at #2 and #5, but it would not be nearly enough as Sorrentino, Halabi, and Tobar all won in straights to seal the team win. Hales was a 3-set winner at #6 (7-5, 2-6, 10-6) to provide the 6-3 final.

Next up for the Bishops is a match-up with preseason favorite Methodist University on Saturday at home. The match is slated for a 2:00pm start at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center.
