Bishop Women Knock Off UMO to Complete Regular Season

Mt. Olive, N.C. - The Battling Bishop women's tennis team knocked off Division II University of Mount Olive by a 6-3 score on Tuesday, wrapping up the regular season with a 9-3 overall record. As the East Division's #2 seed, Wesleyan will take on the West Division's #3 seed Covenant College at 10:00am Friday in the first round of the 2018 USA South Conference Tournament.

Tuesday's match versus the Trojans (6-12) saw the Bishops sweep doubles play,beginning with seniors Florencia Sorrentino and Ana Diaz teaming for an 8-2 win at the #3 seed. The duos of Stephany Barbera/Talitha Rowan and Giulia Zanetti/Nicole Halabi were winners at the top two seeds by 8-3 and 8-5 scores, respectively.

UMO managed its first point with a win at #3 singles, but Barbera (6-0, 6-2) and Diaz (6-2, 6-4) won in straights at #5 and #6 to clinch the match. Wesleyan's final point came at #4 singles where Rowan earned a 7-6, 6-1 victory.
