Women's Tennis Shut Out LaGrange in Quarterfinals

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The top seeded NC Wesleyan College East Division Champion Women's Tennis team shut out #4 seed LaGrange College 5-0 in the USA South Tournament Quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.

The top doubles team of freshmen Fariza Abdulloeva and Milena Amedieva rolled by in #1 doubles 8-3. The #2 doubles team of sophomore Julianna Johnson and senior Stephany Barbera then cruised by 8-2 while the third line doubles team of junior Nicole Halabi and sophomore Giulia Zanetti then finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-0 shutout win.

Zanetti and Halabi then clinched the match for the Lady Bishops at #3 and #5 singles respectively winning 6-0, 6-0 each as Wesleyan would go on to win 5-0.

Amedieva and Barbera were also leading 6-0, 5-0 when the match was called while Abdulloeva was winning 6-1, 3-0 and Johnson winning 6-2, 1-0 when the match was clinched.

The Lady Bishops improve to 13-4 overall and will next face 3rd seeded East Division rival Averett University (13-5) on Saturday at 2 PM at LaGrange Courts.
