WILMINGTON, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Track & Field teams traveled to UNC Wilmington on Friday to participate in the Teal Seahawk Invitational that consisted of Division 1, 2 and 3 colleges, including some USA South schools.

The day was highlighted by 2 women performers that has them ranked nationally in their individual events.  Sophomore Teanna Bellamy came into the day ranked #22 in the nation in the 400 meter run, and she improved on her previous time by running a time of 1:03 to palce 13th out of 22 runners and move up to #21 in the nation in Division 3.

Freshman Florentina Lonati then stepped into the Javelin throw, as it was her 1st college performance.  When she finished all her throws, she left the meet ranked 30th in the nation in the Javelin throw. Lonati placed 3rd out of 6 with a throw of 25.3 meters.

Both of these women have a lot of room to improve and will need to as the season goes along. To advance to the national championships they need to finish within the top 22 females in their individual event.

Sophomore Toni Foster also competed in the long jump and placed 15th with a mark of 3.66 meters. Junior Alyssa Donaldson also competed in the 800 meter run and finished 18th with a time of 3:26. Freshman Catalina Hermosa also competed in the 400 meters and ran a time of 1:17.

"Today we took a step forward in getting better," commented coach Marshall Leonard.  "We talk about consistently improving, and today we saw that across the board with every individual. We have a long way to go to get to where we want to be, but all these student athletes are working hard to get there."
