Rocky Mount, N.C. - On senior night in Everett Gymnasium, the Battling Bishops of N.C. Wesleyan earned a pair USA South sweeps over Mary Baldwin and Greensboro, running their current win streak to ten matches. Prior to their victory over the Pride, NCWC and head coach Robin Pietryk honored the five senior members of their squad: Erin Augspurger, Shana Ayers, Kristi Lucas, Meredith Smith and Anna Hart.

Versus MBC, set scores were 25-16, 25-14 and 25-16. The Bishops turned in a solid .310 hitting percentage in the match, led by Taylor Johnson's 13 kills against just one error. Hart added ten kills and a trio of solo blocks, while Lucas dished out 34 assists. Ayers anchored the defensive effort with 15 digs, and Smith and Augspurger joined their with their fellow seniors to tally 12 service aces.

Against GC, set scores were 25-13, 26-24 and 25-21. Wesleyan dominated the opening set behind a match-high 16 kills, only to see the Pride respond by going up 23-20 in the second. Five unforced errors, however, allowed NCWC to regain control; and after fighting off set point, Johnson proceeded to serve the final two points for a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third set, both teams recorded impressive .400+ hitting percentages, but it was Wesleyan that came out on top thanks to timely kills by Johnson and Hart. Both finished with 12 kills in the match, while Smith had ten.  Lucas managed 36 assists and a team-high 11 digs.

Now 14-6 on the season and 5-0 in USA South play, the Bishops will travel to regional foe Randolph-Macon on Tuesday evening for a 7:00pm match-up versus the Yellow Jackets.
