Bishops Pick Up 3-1 Win Victory on Dig Pink Night

Rocky Mount, N.C. - On Dig Pink Night in Everett Gymnasium, the Battling Bishop volleyball squad picked up a 3-1 USA South win over visiting Meredith College. Set scores were 25-19, 25-12, 22-25 and 25-10.

Wesleyan came out strong in the opening set, tallying 18 kills against just four errors.  It was more of the same in the second set, which featured a stretch of 13 straight service points by senior Erin Augspurger. Meredith rebounded for a win in third set before Wesleyan ran away with the fourth to secure the match.

Senior Anna Hart led all players with 17 kills, while junior Taylor Johnson had 16. Senior Meredith Smith and sophomore Lauren Wright managed 11 kills apiece, helping Kristi Lucas to a match-high 51 assists. Libero Shana Ayers again anchored the defensive effort with 22 digs, while Hart and Smith completed double-doubles with 13 and 11 digs, respectively.

As a team, the Bishops doubled up the Angels in kills with 65 to their 32 on the night. 

With the victory, Wesleyan remains undefeated in USA South play at 6-0 and pushes its overall record to 15-7. The Bishops travel to Greensboro College on Saturday for a pair of non-conference matches with the Pride and Southern Virginia before returning to USA South play on Sunday at Maryville.
