Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan Department of Athletics would like to offer congratulations to head volleyball coach Dr. Robin Pietryk, who has been selected as a 2013 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee at her alma mater, Bethany College.

"I consider this a tremendous honor," said Pietryk. "It's very humbling to be recognized for your accomplishments, and I'd like to thank the committee for this recognition."

She continued, "I truly enjoyed my time at Bethany and appreciated the rare opportunity I was given to play three sports during my time there."

As a player, Pietryk was a three-time PAC All-Conference volleyball player and a two-time All-Conference performer in softball.  Additionally, she earned Academic All-America honors in softball. Having lettered for four seasons in three different sports (volleyball, basketball, softball), Pietryk remains one of the few athletes at any level to attain 12 varsity letters.

Most impressively, she accomplished all of this while graduating with honors, receiving her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies in 1990. Pietryk completed her Ph.D. in the spring of 2008 at Walden University, specializing in higher education.

Since her time at Bethany, Pietryk has made a reputation of building programs.  She started her collegiate coaching career at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill., where she was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1995. From there, Pietryk moved on to Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio. Once again, her teams continued to improve in the win column, setting the stage for her move to Wesleyan.

Pietryk is currently in her 14th season with the Battling Bishops. The all-time winningnest coach in program history, she currently boasts 234 career victories and has guided 26 players to All-Conference honors. Her tenure has seen the veteran coach record seven of the program's nine 20-win seasons, including six in a row from 2007 to 2012.

The Bethany College Athletic Hall of Fame was founded in 1977 to bestow honor upon persons who have made exceptional contributions to the intercollegiate athletics program at the West Virginia institution. Since inception, more than 150 former student-athletes have garnered induction, as well as four former coaches and one team, the 1994 men's soccer national championship team.

Dr. Pietryk is one of four athletes to comprise this year's class. She will attend an official induction ceremony this Friday, September 27th.

Congratulations Coach Pietryk!
