Bishop Volleyball Falls at Randolph-Macon to Open Season

Ashland, Va. - North Carolina Wesleyan's volleyball squad suffered a season-opening sweep at Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday night. Set scores were 25-15, 25-14 and 25-18.

Midway through the opening set, R-MC held a slim 15-13 lead as both teams struggled to organize offensively. The Yellow Jackets, unfortunately, were able to close out the game with a 10-2 run that gave them 1-0 lead in the match.

It was all Macon in the second set as the Bishops again fell victim to a series of attack errors, and although NCWC was able to post a team-high seven kills in the third, it would not be enough to avoid the sweep.

Bishop libero Christina Huber talled a match-high 16 digs on the night, while fellow junior Tori Stewart added 11 digs and five kills. As a team, Wesleyan turned in 11 kills to R-MC's 30 on the night.

NCWC returns to action at Roanoke College on Friday night at 6:30pm.
