Wesleyan Volleyball Extends Streak to Five with Pair of Wins

Rocky Mount, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan's volleyball team has extended its current win streak to five matches with 3-1 victories over Greensboro and Guilford on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, in Everett Gymnasium.

Versus Greensboro on Tuesday, set scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-16. The Bishops recorded double-digit kills in every set and racked up 14 blocks defensively to earn their fourth straight USA South victory.

Junior Tori Stewart tallied 16 kills, while freshman Taylor Smith added 10 of her own. Additionally, setter Ayla Brewer recorded 40 assists on the night, and the duo of Christina Huber and Evie Hunter combined for 45 digs defensively.

The Bishops started slow against Guilford on Wednesday, dropping the first set 25-22 before rebounding for 25-20, 25-11 and 25-21 wins. Stewart and Hunter reached double-figure kills with 14 and 11, respectively, while Emily McLain and Samantha Morton notched nine apiece. McLain turned in five blocks for the second straight night, with Smith leading the way with seven rejections.

As a team, NCW dominated the net with 20 blocks to the Quakers' four.

Wesleyan (9-13, 5-8 USA South) returns to league play on Saturday with a match-ups against league-leading Covenant and Maryville. Both will be hosted by Maryville beginning at 10:00am.
