Volleyball Drops Match at Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Volleyball team dropped their non-conference match on the road at Guilford College (N.C.) in 3 sets on Tuesday evening.

Guilford took the first 25-17 on 13 kills before getting out to a big lead and taking the second set 25-15. The Quakers would then lead early on in the third set building their lead to 17-10 before the Lady Bishops went on a 10-4 run to trim Guilford's lead to one at 21-20 forcing a GC timeout. Unfortunately, Guilford would go on to take the final set 25-23 behind 17 kills.

Junior OH Callie Cline led the Bishops with 5 kills and 11 digs with a block while junior Libero Sam Butensky registered a team-high 19 digs. 

Sophomore middle Lauren Weaver played well with 4 kills, 2 assists, and 2 blocks while fellow middle, senior Hannah Thrasher posted 3 kills with 2 aces, 2 digs, and a block. Sophomore right side Bijou Patel also put up 4 kills with 5 digs and 2 blocks as senior setter Haileigh Riesenbeck assisted on 14 kills along with an ace and a kill.

Wesleyan falls to 7-13 overall with the loss while Guilford improves to 11-7.

The Bishops are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Virginia to play Mary Baldwin (Va.) and Pfeiffer in a conference tri-match.
