    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2012-2013 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan is pleased to announce that 62 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition.

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 48th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 24th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2012-2013 season.
  • Volleyball's Anna Hart Joins D-III All-Star Tour

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that senior Anna Hart of volleyball has been selected to play in the USA Division 3 All Star Tour. Traveling to Brazil, Hart will begin her 10-day experience on June 10th.
  • Bishop Volleyball Season Ends in USAS Semifinals

    The 2nd-seeded Maryville Scots advanced to the USA South Volleyball Tournament Championship with a 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-17) win over the 3rd-seeded North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops. It was the first game in the tournament not decided in three sets.
  • #3 NCWC Advances to Semis with Sweep of #6 WPU

    The quarterfinals in the USA South Volleyball Tournament continued to be good to the higher-seeded team, as 3rd-seeded North Carolina Wesleyan delivered the third straight 3-0 win as it downed 6th-seeded William Peace (25-12, 25-15, 25-14) in straight sets, the third straight sweep of the tournament.
  • Hart Leads All-Conference Selections in Volleyball

    The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2012 All-Conference awards for volleyball with a total of 36 student-athletes being named to the All-Conference teams. North Carolina Wesleyan had six athletes earn recognition, led by senior Anna Hart's First Team selection.
  • Bishops Earn Pair of Sweeps, Prepare for Tourney

    Senior Meredith Smith totaled 36 kills over two matches on Saturday afternoon, leading her Battling Bishop volleyball squad to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Piedmont and Ferrum in USA South play. The two victories ups Wesleyan's season record to 20-9 overall, securing the program's sixth straight 20-win season.
  • Soccer, Volleyball Drop Trio of League Matches

    The men's and women's soccer teams of North Carolina Wesleyan dropped a pair of USA South matches to Methodist University on Wednesday, while the Battling Bishop volleyball team suffered a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Christopher Newport later in the evening.
  • NCWC Volleyball Goes 3-1 on Weekend Road Trip

    North Carolina Wesleyan's volleyball team went 3-1 on its weekend road trip, picking up victories over Greensboro, Southern Virginia and LaGrange. The Bishops' lone defeat came at the hands of Maryville College on Sunday, which marks NCWC's first loss in USA South play this season. Wesleyan is now 18-8 overall, 7-1 in league action.
  • Bishops Pick Up 3-1 Win Victory on Dig Pink Night

    On Dig Pink Night in Everett Gymnasium, the Battling Bishop volleyball squad picked up a 3-1 USA South win over visiting Meredith College. Set scores were 25-19, 25-12, 22-25 and 25-10.
  • Women's Soccer & Volleyball to Support Pink Projects

    October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and our North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer and volleyball teams are doing their parts to support this worthy cause. Soccer will be hosting its annual "Think Pink" day on Thursday, October 11th, while volleyball has planned a "Dig Pink" night for Wednesday, October 17th.

    Randolph-Macon ended North Carolina Wesleyan's 10-match winning streak on Tuesday night, downing the Bishops by a 3-0 score in non-conference volleyball action. Set scores were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-23.
  • Hall of Fame Inductions Highlight 2012 Homecoming

    North Carolina Wesleyan celebrated its 2012 Homecoming on Saturday, and the day was full of notable highlights. A pair of USA South soccer wins coupled with Commissioner Rita Wiggs' halftime presentation at the Bishops' football game made for an exciting day, while the Department of Athletics annual Hall of Fame inductions capped off a memorable night in Rocky Mount.
  • Volleyball Honors Seniors, Earns Pair of Sweeps

    On senior night in Everett Gymnasium, the Battling Bishops of N.C. Wesleyan earned a pair USA South sweeps over Mary Baldwin and Greensboro, running their current win streak to ten matches. Prior to their victory over the Pride, NCWC and head coach Robin Pietryk honored the five senior members of their squad: Erin Augspurger, Shana Ayers, Kristi Lucas, Meredith Smith and Anna Hart.
  • Hart Leads Bishops to 3-0 Sweep at Methodist

    North Carolina Wesleyan's volleyball squad avenged a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Methodist University two weeks ago by handing the Monarchs a 3-0 sweep in Wednesday's USA South action. Set scores were 25-15, 25-21 and 25-19. Senior Anna Hart led all players with 11 kills and six blocks to pace the Bishops, who have now won eight straight matches.
  • NCWC Volleyball Continues to Roll with Trio of Wins

    The Battling Bishop volleyball squad continued its impressive play of late with a trio of wins this weekend. Wesleyan picked up a 3-1 win at Randolph on Friday night before earning a pair of thrilling 3-2 victories on Saturday over Bridgewater and Eastern Mennonite. The victories run NCWC's current win streak to seven matches.
  • Smith's 19 Kills Lift Bishops to 3-1 Win over WPU

    Senior Meredith Smith tallied 19 kills to help her N.C. Wesleyan volleyball squad secure a 3-1 victory over William Peace University on Tuesday night in Everett Gym. The Bishops rebounded from an opening set loss to pick up their seventh win in their last eight matches. Set scores were 19-25, 28-26, 25-14 and 25-21.
  • Ayers, Bjarnason Earn USA South Weekly Honors

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for September 24th, and two Battling Bishops earned honors in their repective sports. Senior Shana Ayers of volleyball was named Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Andri Bjarnason of men's soccer was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
  • Ayers, Bishops Pick Up Three Volleyball Victories

    Senior libero Shana Ayers averaged 26 digs per match to help lead her Battling Bishop volleyball squad to three victories over the weekend. Wesleyan began with a 3-0 sweep of Guilford on Friday before turning in 3-0 and 3-1 USA South wins over Averett and Peace on Saturday, respectively. NCWC climbs above .500 for the first time this season at 7-6 and is now 2-0 in league play.
  • Monarchs Upset Bishops in Volleyball Action, 3-2

    Methodist University pulled off an upset of North Carolina Wesleyan in Wednesday night's non-conference volleyball action, scoring 10 of the final 11 points in the fifth set for a 3-2 victory. Set scores were 21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21 and 15-9.
  • Wesleyan Cruises to 3-0 Sweep of Mary Washington

    In one of their most impressive performances of the season, the Battling Bishops cruised to a 3-0 sweep of the University of Mary Washington in Saturday's non-conference volleyball action at Everett Gymnasium. Senior Kristi Lucas paved the way with a double-double of 35 assists and 11 digs en route to 25-21, 25-22 and 27-25 set victories.
  • Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.

  • Volleyball Downs Marietta, Hart Named All-Tourney

    North Carolina Wesleyan's volleyball team rebounded from a trio of tough losses at this weekend's Washington & Lee Tournament to down Marietta by a 3-1 score on Saturday afternoon. Senior Anna Hart earned All-Tournament accolades thanks to her solid all-around play, while libero Shana Ayers did her part defensively, averaging 22 digs per match over the course of the tourney.
  • Johnson Powers Bishops to 3-1 Victory for First Win

    Junior Taylor Johnson tallied a team-high 17 kills and five blocks to help lead her North Carolina Wesleyan volleyball team to its first win of the season on Tuesday night, a 3-1 victory over visiting Virginia Wesleyan. Set scores were 27-25, 18-25, 25-13 and 29-27.
  • USA South Releases 2012 Fall Sport Polls

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released is 2012 fall sport preseason coaches polls for volleyball and soccer. North Carolina Wesleyan received 4th-place billings in volleyball and men's soccer, while women's soccer was tabbed 10th.
