NCWC Drops Pair of Lax Contests on the Road

Salisbury, N.C. - In this week's lacrosse action, the Battling Bishops dropped a pair of road contests. On Thursday, Wesleyan suffered a 20-0 defeat at the hands of USA South foe Greensboro, while on Saturday, the Bishops fell 18-2 at Division II Catawba.

Versus Catawba on Saturday, the Indians (2-6) opened up a 12-0 lead at the break and went on to out-score the Bishops 6-2 in the second half. Freshman Connor Wright scored Wesleyan's first goal unassisted, while sophomore Laine Hicks netted the Bishops' second score on a free position shot.

NCWC freshman goalie Casey Burd made 14 saves on 42 Catawba shots.

Previously at Greensboro on Thursday, the Pride (4-7, 4-2 USA South) led nearly every statistical category, which included a 27-3 advantage in shots. Burd managed three saves in net.

Wesleyan (0-9) wraps up its 2012 slate on Wednesday when the Bishops host Methodist University. The match is slated for a 4:00pm start at Scalf Field.
