Lacrosse Drops Two Conference Contests to SVU and Huntingdon

Rocky Mount - The N.C. Wesleyan lacrosse program fell in two hard-fought USA South affairs to Southern Virginia and Huntingdon over the weekend.

The Basics:

Scores: N.C. Wesleyan 17, Southern Virginia 3        N.C. Wesleyan 6, Huntingdon 8

Location: N.C. Wesleyan University / Rocky Mount, N.C.  /  Vernon T. Bradley Jr. Stadiums    

How it Happened (SVU):

  • Lailah Espinal recorded all three goals for the Battling Bishops in the contest.

  • Wesleyan tied SVU in the 2nd quarter at 2-2 and gained valuable momentum heading into the intermission

  • The Bishops would also record more saves and draw controls than SVU for the afternoon.

How it Happened (Huntingdon):

  • Wesleyan won the 4th quarter against Huntingdon 3-1 to stage a late comeback against the Hawks
  • Blaire Hrley and Lailah Espinal both recorded two goals on the afternoon and accounted for a majority of Bishop goals.
  • Nakayla Chatman picked up three ground balls in the hard-fought affair as well.
  • Sunday's game marked the annual Morgan's Message game for the program as the team brought light to the importance of mental health in collegiate athletics.

 Next Up:

The Bishops travel to Greensboro on Saturday and will face the Pride at 1:00.
