Decatur, Ga. - In Sunday's USA South lacrosse action, Agnes Scott used a 7-0 run to start the second half to pull away for a 12-6 win over North Carolina Wesleyan.

Wesleyan started strong, forging an early 3-1 lead behind goals by Haley Hopkins, Laine Hicks and Ashley Marks. ASC, however, reeled off the next three scores to take its first lead, 4-3, with 4:10 left in the opening period.

Hopkins later answered with the equalizer inside the final minute, and the game seemed destined for a first half tie. Unfortunately, the Scotties' Clara Kienzle had other ideas, notching a goal with just five seconds remaining for a 5-4 ASC lead at the break. Bishop goalie Marissa Santos made ten saves in the period to keep the Bishops within striking distance.

The Bishops saw the game slip away in the first ten minutes of the second half. With ASC's defense stopping eight Wesleyan shots-on-goal, the Scottie offense took care of the rest with a 7-0 run to pull away. Hicks and teammate Jade Goal managed a pair of scores late to provide the 12-6 final.

The Bishops out-shot the Scotties 17-13 in the second half, while the two teams racked up 28 shots apiece on the day. Statistically, draw controls were also even at 10-10, with Agnes Scott holding a slim 28-24 advantage in ground balls.

Santos finished with 13 saves, while Scottie keeper Ashley Holder had 12.

Wesleyan returns to action at home on Tuesday when the Bishops host Huntingdon College at 4:00pm.
