MONTGOMERY, AL - The NC Wesleyan College lacrosse team dropped their conference match with West Div. foe, Huntingdon College 21-7 on the road Saturday afternoon.

An Ali Cucinotta goal got the Bishops within one at 2-1 after the first 14 minutes of play but HC would go on a 4-goal run to extend their lead. After Back-to-back Wesleyan goals made it 6-3, HC would outscore the Bishops 6-2 the rest of the half to take a 12-5 lead at the break.

Wesleyan would then get within six at 13-7 just 6 minutes into the 2nd half but, unfortunately, that would be as close as they would come as the Lady Hawks would score the 8 remaining goals of the game to take the win.

Huntingdon improves to 3-1 overall while dropping Wesleyan to 1-3 in each team's conference opener.

Cucinotta, a junior midfielder, led the Bishops with 4 goals and an assist along with winning six draws, forcing 4 turnovers, and gaining 6 ground balls, all team-bests.  Freshman attacker Winter Hardison also won four draws along with a goal and an assist.

Sophomore Maddie O'Neill also scored 2 goals with an assist and 2 ground balls. Freshman goalie Isabella Espoile also made 12 saves and gathered 3 ground balls in the loss.

The Bishops are right back in action Sunday to face D2 Coker College on the road in South Carolina at 12 PM.
