Lacrosse Falls at D2 Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The NC Wesleyan College lacrosse team fell 19-7 to Div. II Coker College on the road Sunday afternoon.

Coker (1-2) jumped out to a 14-4 lead at halftime outshooting the Bishops 21-10 in the half. The second half was more low-scoring with Coker only winning the half 5-3 and only allowing 5 Bishop shots, but were just too much on this day for Wesleyan.

Sophomore Maddie O'Neill led the Bishops with 3 goals while freshman attacker Winter Hardison and junior midfielder Ali Cucinotta also added 2 goals apiece. Cucinotta also led the team by winning 8 draws, assisting on 2 goals, and causing 4 Coker turnovers. Hardison also tallied an assist, a draw control and a caused turnover.

Freshman goalie Isabella Espoile made 8 saves on 27 shots.

Wesleyan falls to 1-4 with the loss and will next return to action next Saturday when they host conference foe Pfeiffer at 1:00 PM.
