Lacrosse's Win Streak Ends with Loss at SVU

Buena Vista, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College Lacrosse team saw their record 4-game win streak come to an end with their 20-1 conference road loss at Southern Virginia on Saturday.

Sophomore midfielder Blaire Harley led the Bishops with the lone goal in the game scoring in the second quarter with just under 9 minutes to play in the half to get within 8-1 of the powerful Knights.

SVU, however would stretch their lead to 11-1 at the break. The Lady Knights would then add four goals in the third and five more in the fourth for the victory.

Other than her goal, Harley also led with 2 caused turnovers while senior defender AJ Upchurch led the team with two ground ball pickups. Also recording ground balls was senior defender Emily Sullivan, sophomore Aisling Key, and freshman Lily McCarty.

Sophomore goalie Devin Bautz made 4 saves on 16 shots on goal while fellow goalie Makiyah Owens came on in the 4th quarter and made one save on 5 shots.

Wesleyan drops to 4-7 overall and 3-1 in the conference while SVU improves to 5-4 and 4-0 in the USA South.

The Lady Bishops will next return to action on Wednesday when they head to Raleigh to battle Meredith College at 6 PM.
