Bishops Return to Hoops Action, Fall at A&T 58-54

Greensboro, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan returned to men's hoops action on Sunday with a tightly-contested match-up at Division I North Carolina A&T University. The Bishops dropped the game by a 58-54 score and now stand at 6-4 overall. All four of Wesleyan's losses have come by five points or less this season.

The Bishops led for most of the first half until the Aggies eventually climbed on top, 20-18, with just over five minutes left in the period. A&T would later take a slim 27-22 advantage into the break.

With both teams continuing to struggle offensively, it was anyone's game down the stretch after freshman Adrian Moore's three-pointer knotted the score at 50-50 with 1:48 to go. Unfortunately, back-to-back turnovers on Wesleyan's next two possessions were countered by a 3-for-4 showing at the charity stripe by the Aggies for a 53-50 A&T lead with a minute left.

The Aggies proceeded to knock down 5-of-6 free throws in the final 17 seconds to hold off the Bishops.

Sophomore Eric Dortch-Jones paced NCWC with a team-high 14 points. Moore joined him in double-figures with 10, while junior Shannon Huff pulled down 14 rebounds.

For A&T, Bruce Becford poured in a game-high 18 points and grabbed a team-high seven boards.

NCWC returns to action on Wednesday when the Bishops host non-conference rival Virginia Wesleyan. The New Year's Eve tilt is slated for a 2:00pm tip in Everett Gym.
