Rocky Mount, N.C. - The Battling Bishop men's basketball team returned to action on Wednesday night, posting a 76-74 USA South victory over Ferrum College in Everett Gym. With the win, Wesleyan moves to 11-10 on the season and now stands at 5-5 in conference play.

The Bishops never trailed and led by as many by 16 early in the second half, only to see a late rally give the Panthers a shot at the win as time expired. Fortunately for Bishop fans, Alek Ayer's three-pointer at the buzzer hit the back of the rim, sealing the win for NCWC and snapping a 4-game losing streak.

NCWC's Brandon Brown poured in a team-high 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, which included a 4-for-5 showing from downtown. He was joined in double-figures by fellow juniors D.J. Weaver and Devontae Williams with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Freshman Adrian Moore added 10 points and dished out five assists.

As a team, Wesleyan went 5-for-6 at the charity stripe in the final 38 seconds to keep the Panthers at bay. The Bishops shot nearly 47 percent from the floor on the night.

Ferrum was led by Jamal Pullen's game-high 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting. The Panthers dropped to 7-15 overall, despite shooting a solid 65 percent from the floor. FC, however, managed to get off just 43 shots, compared to Wesleyan's 60 attempts for the game.

The Bishops return to action this weekend a pair of key road match-ups at league foes Greensboro College and Averett University. Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm at GC on Saturday and 1:00pm at AU on Sunday.
