The USA South Athletic Conference has announced their Player of the Week Award winners for the week ending January 20 and N.C. Wesleyan junior center A.J. Frye was named as the Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.

The junior center from Wilmington, North Carolina averaged a double-double of 17.5 points and 14.5 rebounds to go along with 6.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game as the Battling Bishops posted a 2-0 record last week versus USA South competition to remain atop the East Division at 8-1 winning their past five games in a row and 13 of their past 14 games.

In a 96-93 win at William Peace Univ., Frye notched a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds to go along with five assists, two steals and one block. In a 128-123 overtime victory over Pfeiffer Univ., Frye posted a double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds with seven assists and one steal to beat out 8 other nominees.

Frye has helped the Bishops average 88 points per game this season and 43 rebounds as a team in leading them to a 15-2 overall record. Frye is averaging 17.8 points/game this season along with 8.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 47 percent from three.

The Bishops are next in action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Tennessee to battle West Division foes Maryville and Covenant Colleges.
