Men Drop Exhibition at Elon

ELON, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's basketball team dropped their second exhibition match of the season to Div. I Elon University 91-60 on Saturday afternoon.

Elon got out to a fast start shooting 63 percent in the first half along with 12 threes on way to a 50-28 halftime lead.

Wesleyan then battled hard with Elon in the second half shooting 44 percent, but Elon shot 51 percent and won the half 41-32.

Junior guard Damon McDowell paced the Bishops with a team-high 18 points and 3 three-pointers while senior center A.J. Frye also posted double-digit points with 15.

Junior guard Josh Covington also posted 9 points while freshman point guard Devin Resper led with 4 assists. Fellow freshman guard, Tim Pettiford also led the team with 6 rebounds along with 6 points, a block, and a steal.

Wesleyan will next return to action on Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM as they will close out the first semester home schedule with a conference game vs. West Division foe, Maryville College on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day and Education day as many young students from the area will be in attendance.
