MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Senior center A.J. Frye's career high of 43 points was not enough as the NC Wesleyan men fell 110-98 on the road at Pfeiffer University on Saturday.

Wesleyan falls back to .500 at 10-10 overall and 6-6 in the USA South while Pfeiffer improves to 11-8 and 6-5 in the league.

Both teams shot over 50 percent in the first half with Pfeiffer taking a 5-point halftime lead at 52-47 thanks to shooting a tad better from three-point range as Frye scored 20 first half points for the Bishops.

Wesleyan would then get to within 68-67 with 14 minutes to play before Pfeiffer would pull away and go on for the win. The Falcons shot over 65 percent in the second half scoring 58 points while the Bishops shot 57 percent in the second half, but their 51 points were not enough.

Frye's 43 points came on 17 two-point baskets and 9 free throws along with 9 rebounds. Junior guard Damon McDowell also played very well adding a season-high of 29 points off the bench while going 6 of 9 from three-point range along with 8 rebounds. Frye's and McDowell's combined 72 points counted for 73 percent of the Bishops' offense on the day.

Sophomore forward Isaiah Lewis also finished in double-figure scoring with 13 points while he also added 4 rebounds and a block. Freshman guard Devin Resper led with 5 assists and 2 steals along with 5 rebounds and 3 points in the defeat.

Wesleyan returns to action on Tuesday when they head north to Danville, VA to battle Averett University at 7:30 PM.
