Bishop Men Fall at Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's basketball team dropped their close battle 88-81 on the road at Methodist on Wednesday evening.

Wesleyan grabbed a 40-33 halftime lead by shooting 60 percent in the first half while MU shot just 22 percent from three. 

Unfortunately, MU rallied back in the second half shooting 55 percent from the floor and outscoring the Bishops 55-41 to grab the 7-point crucial win.

MU improves to 13-9 overall and 9-5 in the conference with the win while dropping the Bishops to 11-12 overall and 7-8 in the league.

Senior center A.J. Frye led the Bishops with 16 points, 6 assists and a block while senior forward Rico Bullock also added 15 points and 3 rebounds as the Bishops shot 55 percent for the game but just 31.6 percent from three-point range.

Also scoring in double-figures was junior wing Damon McDowell with 12 points, a team-best 9 rebounds, and 5 assists and a steal as he had a solid all-around game. Senior forward Mitch Layton also scored 8 points with 6 rebounds, an assist, and 2 blocks while fellow forward, sophomore Isaiah Lewis registered 8 points as well. Senior guard Cameron Martin also chipped in 7 points with 4 boards and 2 assists.

The Bishops return to action next Tuesday when they head over to Greensboro College for a 7:30 PM start.
