Men's Hoops Roll Past Pfeiffer for Third Straight Win

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's basketball team kept their offense rolling as they posted 61 points in the second half en route to a 103-88 conference road victory over Pfeiffer University on Sunday.

Senior guard Damon McDowell led the Bishops with his second straight 30-point game this time scoring 33 points on 13 of 22 shooting and four 3-pointers along with 6 rebounds.

With the win, Wesleyan improves to 12-4 overall and 4-1 in the East moving into a tie with Averett for first place. Pfeiffer falls to 5-5 and 2-1 in the division.

The Bishops shot over 48% in the first half as a tightly-played period saw Wesleyan lead 42-40 at the break.  Wesleyan then shot nearly 56 percent in the second half while putting up 61 points to outscore the Falcons 61-48. NCWC was also 50 percent from three in the half and 46.7% overall.

Sophomore guard Khalid Chavis-Hinds also added 11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and a block while fellow guard Marquis Eskew and forward Kyron Kelly combined for 14 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomore guard Austin Manley scored 8 points off the bench as well.

Junior forward Isaiah Lewis then added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks off the bench while fellow forward, junior Sal-Bey Young registered 14 points and 7 rebounds with a team-best 3 assists.

The Bishops will next return home to host rival Methodist on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM.
