Men’s Basketball Gets Road Win Against Guilford

Rocky Mount, NC – The North Carolina Wesleyan University Men's Basketball team got their second win of the season with a road victory against the Quakers of Guilford College by a score of 52 to 50.

Senior Brayden Dixon, Bishops point guard from Charlotte, NC, scored the first points of the game with a three-pointer that was a part of the Battling Bishop's 7 to 0 run to start the game. Guilford would answer with a layup by Caleb Farrish and the remainder of first half would be a back-and-forth battle with both teams clawing to get momentum. The Bishops lead 23 to 22 going into halftime against the Quakers.

Guilford would go on their own 7 to 0 run to open up the second half to put the Quakers up 29 to 23; however, the Bishops battled back and defeat the Quakers with a final score of 52 to 50.

Leading in scoring between both competing teams was Bishops Austin Manley, the junior from Apex, NC, with ten points off of a 3 of 6 shooting performance while being 2 of 4 from behind the arc and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. Bishops Marquis Eskew, the junior from Fayettebille, NC, and the second highest scorer of the game added 9 points, along with Bishops point guard Brayden Dixon, who also added 9 points.

There were six ties and nine lead changes in the game with the largest lead being seven points from both of the teams, which was part of both the Bishops and the Quakers opening runs to start each half.
