Bishops Defense Derail Mustangs
Rocky Mount, NC – The North Carolina Wesleyan University Men's Basketball team hosted the Mustangs
 
of Mid-Atlantic Christian University to commence the weekends events for the Roger Taylor Invitational;
 
winning by an impressive score of 79-52.
 
 
The Bishops would go on a 10-0 run early in the first half to take a lead of 41-22 going into halftime
 
against the Mustangs. Isaiah Lewis, the senior standout from Knightdale, NC, played a major role with
 
a strong first half for the Bishops scoring an astonishing 15 points in the first half alone, combined with
 
4 rebounds and 2 blocks to give the Bishops the momentum going into half-time.
 
 
The Mustangs would go on a 10-0 run early in the second half but could not bring the score in reach as
 
the Bishops would win the game 79-52. Bishops Kyron Kelly, the junior forward from Fayetteville, NC,
 
proved a strong run in the second half with 8 points, a solid 9 rebounds, while adding 1 block to the mix,
 
as well.
 

The Battling Bishops would shoot 48% from the floor while shooting 41% from behind thearc and 41%

from the free throw line to wrap up their game versus the Mustangs. The Bishops had 27 points coming

off of turnovers and 36 points coming from the paint. Three Battling Bishops would score double-doubles

against the Mustangs; Senior Isaiah Lewis scored the game high 17 points, followed by a pair of junior-

classmen- Khalid Chavis with an impressive 15 points, and Austin Manley who would be right behind them

scoring an equally impressive 14 points. Bishops Kyron Kelly, made his name known against the Mustangs

as the defensive demise, with a game-high 14 rebounds and 2 blocks which proved to be far too much for

the Mustangs.

 

The Bishops stand at 5-3, 0-0 in conference play, and will host Huntington College (1-5) for their second

game in the Roger Taylor Invitiational on Saturday, December 3, at 2 in the afternoon. To follow along with
