Bishops Hunt Down The Hawks To Conclude RTI Series; Undeafeated

Rocky Mount, NC – The Battling Bishops Men's Basketball team remained undefeated while hosting the Roger Taylor Invitational after defeating the Hawks of Huntingdon College by a solid score of 75-52 in the final game of the series.

The Bishops started the game on fire with a 13-0 score in the first 4 minutes of play before the Hawks could even manage to get a point on the scoreboard. The Bishops continued a strong performance throughout the first half dominating the Hawks on both sides of the court. In the first half of play the Bishops shot 18-34 (53%) from the field and managed to swoosh 5 shots from behind the arc; while the Hawks shot 7-22(32%) from the field and managed to swoosh a mere 3 shots from behind the arc. Huntingdon's 15 turnovers in the first half alone resulted in 20 points for the Bishops, taking a 43-17 lead into halftime.

The Hawks of Huntingdon were ready to answer immediately with an 11-0 run on the Bishops to start the 2nd half; however, it would not be enough to salvage the damage done by the Bishops in the first half of play. The Hawks were able to outscore the Bishops in the second half; however, bringing the score within singles remained an impossible feat. The largest lead of the game was by 30 points with only 4:53 remaining in the game. Bishops sealed the deal defeating the Hawks 75-52.

The Bishops' offense would shoot 52% for the game while shooting 40% from behind the arc and scoring 25 points off of turnovers. The Bishops' defense managed 17 assists and shared 33 rebounds with the Hawks. Isaiah Lewis, the Bishops' senior standout, walked away as the leading scorer of the game with a double-double for his 21 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Austin Manley would be right behind him to have 14 points, while adding 1 steal and 1 assist.

This brings the Bishops record to 8-3(0-0) for the season, while advancing to 3-0 in the series as the Roger Taylor Invitational concluded. The Bishops will travel to Camden, New Jersey to play Rutgers-Camden on December 14th at 6:00pm.
