Men Finish Non-Conference Schedule With a Victory Against Immaculata

Philadelphia, PA – The North Carolina Wesleyan University Men's Basketball team traveled to the City of Brotherly Love to play Immaculata University. The Battling Bishops came away with a 68 to 56 victory against the Mighty Macs.

The Battling Bishops went on a 6-0 run before Immaculata could get on the scoreboard. Both teams would battle in the first half with the Bishops taking a two-point lead going into halftime 25 to 23. NC Wesleyan would take the lead by shooting 32% from the floor and 71% from the free throw line in the first half.

The Bishops would get on the scoreboard first in the second half just like the first as both teams battled back and forth. Immaculata tied the ball game at 47 a piece at the six-minute mark but could never get a second half lead from the Bishops. NC Wesleyan would shoot 50% from the floor, 44% from behind the arc, and 71% from the free throw line to end the game with a 68 to 56 win over Immaculata.

Three players scored in double digits for the Bishops; Austin Manley, the junior from Apex, NC, scored 19 points going 3 of 4 from behind the arc and a perfect 10 of 10 from the free throw line. Seniors Brayden Dixon, from Charlotte, NC, and Isaiah Lewis, from Knightdale, NC, both added 12 points for the night. Khalid Chavis, the junior from Greensboro, NC, was a point and rebound away from having a double-double.

The win brings the Bishops record to 8-3 going into USA South Conference play. The Bishops will play Southern Virginia in Buena Vista, VA on January 4th at 2:00PM.
