NCAA Tournament Central

Indianapolis IN, - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's basketball program has found out its destination for the 2023 NCAA Tournament. This weekend will be the school's 6th NCAA tournament appearance and the first since 2011. On Friday, the men's team will travel to Randolph Macon to face Scranton. The #1 overall seed Randolph-Macon will face Wilson immediately following the NCWU game.

 Selection Process

Sixty-four teams attend the 2023 tournament — 44 conference champions, 0 from Pool B, and 20 at-large teams (Pool C).

Pool B has nine teams that are independent or a member of a conference that does not have an automatic bid, which is below the threshold needed for a Pool B bid, so no Pool B bids will be awarded in men's basketball.

The NCAA tournament selection committee builds the brackets and decides which schools will host each weekend. While teams with higher regional rankings have a better chance to host, several factors go into hosting decisions including geography, facilities, attendance history and revenue potential, and a school's willingness to host. The NCAA has encouraged the committees to keep travel costs down, especially during the opening weekend, so the committee may give hosting opportunities to a lower-seeded team that is closer to the other teams in the pod and reduces the number of flights the NCAA has to cover. If a team is 500 miles or more from the game site, the NCAA will pay for the team's flight.
