Bishops, Owls Fight to 2-2 Women's Soccer Draw

Rocky Mount, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan and Warren Wilson fought to a 2-2 double-overtime draw in Sunday afternoon's women's soccer action at Scalf Field. Freshman Sarah Olsowski and sophomore Rebecca Staylor each netted goals for the Bishops, who now stand at 1-2-1 on the season.

The Owls got on the board first with a Bianca Canizio score in the 15th minute. Olsowski later made it 1-1 at the break when she blasted a 20-yard shot off the post and in off a Staylor assist.

In the second half, Staylor put the Bishops on top 2-1 at the 53:59 mark when she beat two defenders and rifled a shot to the right of WWC keeper Kenra Orians.  Nearly 20 minutes later, the Owls answered with an unassisted score by Reily Kennedy.

Wesleyan out-shot WWC 17-11 on the day, which included a 3-2 advange in overtime. Orians made four saves to preserve the draw, while NCWC freshmen goalies Vanessa Batchelor and Haley Hopkins combined for five saves on the day.

Previously on Friday, Wesleyan suffered a 3-0 shutout at Randolph-Macon. Batchelor and Hopkins tallied 13 saves on 26 Yellow Jacket shots.

The Bishops open USA South play next Saturday when they travel to Meredith College for a 2:00pm match-up with the Avenging Angels.
