Wesleyan Women Drop Pair of League Matches

Danville, Va. - The women's soccer team of N.C. Wesleyan dropped a pair of league matches over the weekend, falling at Greensboro by a 3-0 score on Saturday and dropping a 6-2 decision at Averett on Sunday. Sophomore Rebecca Staylor had a hand in both Bishops goals, netting NCWC's first score at AU and assisting on the second.

Against Averett on Sunday, Wesleyan out-shot the Cougars 8-7 in the second half and out-scored them 2-1 in the period.  Staylor's score came in the 56th minute, while fellow sophmore Paige Brooks did the honors 20 minutes later. It was not enough, however, to overcome a 5-0 halftime deficit.

Versus the Pride on Saturday, Greensboro went up 1-0 at the half before tallying a pair of scores in the second. GC out-shot NCWC 18-6 on the day and held a 6-1 advantage in corners.

Wesleyan (2-5-1, 0-3 USAS) returns to action at home next Saturday and Sunday when the Bishops host USA South foes Mary Baldwin and Christopher Newport, respectively. Both matches are slated for 2:00pm starts at Scalf Field.
