Rocky Mount, N.C. - Sophomore Dori Brooks' Golden Goal in the 100th minute gave her N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer team a 3-2 league victory over LaGrange College on Sunday afternoon at Scalf Field. Prior to the match, head coach Beverly Biancur and her squad honored seniors Ashley Marks and Lakwanua Hicks, who were thrilled to get a win in their final home match.

The Bishops held a slim 1-0 lead at the half thanks to a Rebecca Staylor goal in the 36th minute off a feed from Chelsea Laurens. NCWC extended its lead to 2-0 with another Staylor goal at the 52:46 mark, this time on an assist from Johanna Wallinder.

LaGrange found life in the 73rd minute when the Panthers finally broke through on Bishop keeper Haley Hopkins, who had made a number of tremendous saves in goal.  Ten minutes later, LC got the equalizer off a corner kick that was headed in.

The Bishops got off the only two shots in the overtime period, the second by Brooks with just 26 seconds remaining. It was then that she took a shot from 20 yards that was batted up by LC goalie Chelsea Totaro, but dropped behind the line for a 3-2 Wesleyan win. The two teams finished even in shots at 19 apiece.

The victory came on the heels of a heartbreaking 4-2 loss to Piedmont on Saturday. Freshman Sarah Olsowski tallied both Bishops goals, the first of which gave NCWC an early 1-0 lead and the second of which knotted the match at 2-2 in the 61st minute.

Unfortunately for the Bishops, Piedmont got the go-ahead score at the 63:59 mark and later tacked on an insurance goal with 38 seconds remaining when Bishops were trying for the equalizer.

Hopkins finished with 15 saves over the two contests, including eight in Sunday's win.

Now 6-7-1 overall and 3-5 in league play, the Bishops will travel to Maryville College next Saturday for an 11:00am match versus the Scots.
